MICHAEL HOUSE CREATES
December 2025 - Christmas Decorations
Michael House Hostel for the Homeless is an amazing Dorset charity supporting people with kindness, developments of skills and creativity. I have, this year, been helping them with their Michael House Creates projects.
Last Friday for the last Michael House Creates of 2025 we made Christmas decorations for their tree and I have to say it was my favourite one to date. A lovely couple of hours was spent talking and creating and I think you’ll agree some lovely decorations were produced.
I was also very honoured to receive a Charity Ambassador badge from Mark, their Chief Exec. That really did mean the world, it really is a privilege to be able to share my love of craft with this fabulous charity to help people support their mental health.
Michael House are currently running a fundraiser as part of THE BIG GIVE which means that every £1 that is raised gets match funded so they can double there money. THE BIG GIVE ends 9th December so now is the time of you can spare a few quid. It’s a tough year for charities, especially the small ones, so any donation, no matter how small, really does help make the difference .
Meet the Maker Blog

Recently, my wonderful supplier, Dannells, approached me to write a feature for their “Meet the Maker” blog post. This wonderful space on their website provides great insight into the many lampshade makers across the country. I jumped at the opportunity to be featured and to share a bit about my business and how it all started.
In the blog post, I delve into the inspiration behind my work, the creative process involved in making lampshades, and the journey that led me to this point. I was thrilled to showcase the unique aspects of my creations and the importance of quality materials sourced from suppliers like Dannells. It’s a joy to be part of a community that values craftsmanship and creativity in home decor.

This is my first joint exhibition, and I’m sharing the space with the very talented ceramicist, Ken Eardley.
I attended the private view on Friday 2nd May and was blown away by the way the wonderful team at the gallery had put our work together. It really is a bold celebration of Mid-Century Modern colour and print.

Wow, what a great weekend exhibiting at Craft Festival Cheltenham. Sarah and the team really do create the most amazing events.
